Best Registry Cleaner

Hi, I'm James. Everyone knows that you have to be exceptionally careful before using a registry cleaner.

With all the contradictory information regarding registry cleaners being published on the web (much of it of dubious quality) we decided to look into the matter ourselves and try to find the best choices.

Cleaning your registry can make the world of difference to your PC in terms of speed and errors so it is important to find the right one.

All the registry cleaners on this page will do the job very well and I hope they help you to improve the performance of your computer.

All cleaners have been rated for their effectiveness, ease of use, number of errors found, customer support and features.

Our #1 Pick Registry Easy
Our Rating:

Registry Easy was the most impressive product we saw and this powerful and effective program has more than lived up to the hype created by its thousands of users across the world. It has been updated very frequently and this fairly simple tool has now become extremely powerful.

In trying to find out which registry cleaners are effective we need to look at a few main factors:

Speed Of The Scan – Time taken to complete the scan
Number Of Errors Found – How many errors were discovered Overall PC Performance – What, if any, improvements were found in the performance

In all categories except speed of scan Registry Easy came out on top. It discovered 732 errors in one scan and, importantly, it made 743 changes to our registry in the clean up process. We found it discovered the most errors and also gave the most accurate data.

As for the overall performance after the scan, Registry Easy gave a 14% improvement. This was the leader again and had the most impact. The only category where it did not come out on top was in speed of scan but this was only by less than 1 minute, so hardly worth worrying about.

We do believe that using Registry Easy can have a dramatic impact on your computer. The difference will depend on the age of the PC and other factors but almost everyone should notice a difference. It has been created by a respected and dedicated team who have done a fantastic job. And best of all...you can scan your PC for free and see if your computer requires a registry clean.

Our #2 Pick Error Fix
Our Rating:

Error Fix is our second choice and is really not far from Registry Easy in a number of factors. It really is a very solid tool. Again it was very easy to use and left my PC in great shape.

Error Fix also gives you the option of trying it out for free so you can really see the errors present in your PC before you start to repair anything. Just do a simple scan and you will get a report back telling you the errors that were discovered.

In terms of overall PC performance we recorded an 11% improvement which is not quite up there with the 14% of Registry Easy, but is still very good. The speed of the scan was very impressive. it was completed in 1 minute 38 seconds which topped this category. This goes to show the power of the tool, but is only really vital to the impatient out there.

In all honesty, both these tools are excellent and both, in almost all cases, will make a difference to the speed and number of errors on your PC. Error Fix is not quite as powerful as Registry Easy and has fewer overall features so it had to take the number 2 spot. When it comes to something as important as your registry you do not want to mess around, but either one of these tools come highly recommended.

Most people do not really realize the need for a registry cleaner and the benefits it can give them for their PC. The registry is not something that your average computer user would ever need to worry about but it can make a dramatic impact on how well it runs. I have found that most people do not concern themselves with this though and only worry when something goes very wrong.

Obviously in the cases where your computer keeps on crashing or giving you error messages it is important to clean your registry, but even if you are not having these issues, a clean up of the registry can make your PC feel like new again.

It will repair or remove damaged files and clean out any old files that have been removed or are returning error messages. The PC uses the registry constantly so when it is clogged up with these problematic files it makes it more difficult to run speedily and smoothly. When these errors have been fixed you will often notice an instant improvement which is very noticeable. It can allow you to load the computer or load individual files at a much quicker rate and take away some of the frustration of waiting for something to happen.

If you have a more severe problem then you should also be using a registry cleaner. Some examples of these problems are the computer crashes regularly or freezes up. Sometimes individual programs will not be able to load or will cause you problems. Often this is because there are fragments of files left over in the registry or files that are now located somewhere else. When the computer tries to access these files it returns errors and this causes the slow down or crash. Often you will find one sweep with you cleaner program and the issue is resolved.

While there are many options available to you when it comes to software products you will want to use a recommended option as not all of them are created equal. The main problem I have found is that the better ones will discover all or at least the vast majority of errors while the poorer quality ones will only find a small number of errors. This inconsistency will not let you give your registry the best treatment it requires.

You can also use a free version of a software in many cases to find out the number of errors you have first. If the cleaner only find a few problems then your PC may not be as unhealthy as you may have thought. Both the products at the top of the page come recommended and will do a good job of finding the problems in your registry.

If you are not particularly accustomed to technology or the registry of a computer then any in depth discussion is probably unnecessary. There is no real need to understand every aspect of a computer in order to use it efficiently but it is worth having some knowledge in case you have a problem.

The registry files store data files that enable your computer to operate in the way that it does. If everything is running smoothly then you will not need to know anything about the registry but over time errors may start to occur. Even if there are no obvious problems you may still start to notice a slow down or lag in running time and loading. This is because parts of files and old data is stored in the registry and in order to process this data your PC has to do more work. This means the operations take longer.

Many people assume their computer is close to the end of its life and go out and purchase a new one. Others pay somebody a good sum of money to have it looked at and repaired professionally. But more often than not it is not necessary. Even when you start to see error messages on your screen or the computer will not boot properly you often just need to repair your registry.

There are a number of things you can do to avoid this scenario and keep your computer in good running order. One thing you should do is to back up files regularly. Buying a hard drive is very cheap nowadays and you can use this to save all the important files from your computer. If something does ever go wrong then at least you have everything saved.

Another important thing to do is to use a registry cleaner tool. Fix software's like this will keep errors to a minimum and do not need to be run that frequently to ensure your computer is running at full speed. These again are very cheap and will save you a lot of money and time in the long run.

Finally I would be cautious about downloading free or shared software as it can cause you problems. This is not always the case but you may find they cause more harm than good. A professionally created program should be verified and safer so wherever possible go down this route. I hope these help you and remember, if you put in the small amount of effort to maintain your registry now then you will save a lot of stress and money in the future.
